SALOMON GUARDIAN 16, THE NEXT GENERATION IN BACKCOUNTRY BINDINGS, WINS THE ISPO AWARD FOR INNOVATION.
Every year at ISPO MUNICH, the leading international sports business trade show, the ISPO AWARD is presented to the most innovative developments of the season – products that expand the boundaries of design and function. “The ISPO AWARD label stands as a sustainable seal of approval for innovations in the sporting goods market,“ says Tobias Grober, Head of the Business Unit Consumer Goods of Messe Munchen GmbH.
In 2012, the ISPO AWARD for product innovation has been given to the SALOMON GUARDIAN 16. A jury comprised of retailers, trade journalists, athletes and designers from nine countries have chosen the SALOMON GUARDIAN 16 backcountry binding because of its technical features and overall performance. The ISPO AWARD will be presented to Salomon at an award ceremony in Hall A6 on January 30 at 5pm.
The SALOMON GUARDIAN 16 is designed to provide the highest level of confidence, efficiency, and feel in downhill performance for a heightened skiing experience. The binding’s Low Profile Chassis features a lower stand height for greater stability and enhanced terrain feedback, and the Oversized Platform enables maximum power transmission and responsiveness for quick and more precise turns. Featuring the Hike & Ride Switch, which is easily engaged with your ski pole, it is no longer necessary to remove your skis when switching between hiking and riding modes.
“We’ve been working for over three years with the entire Salomon freeski team and other top level freeski athletes to develop, test, and retest this binding,” says Denis Levet, Salomon Alpine Brand Manager. “The SALOMON GUARDIAN 16 combines Salomon’s legendary downhill performance in bindings with the convenience of Hike & Ride technology to allow access to the backcountry and the powder dream.”
